Staff Accountant


Amcor, Inc., a global manufacturer in the plastics industry, is expanding and looking for a hands-on Staff Accountant based in Thomson, GA. The right individual must be a self-starter who has worked in small to mid-sized manufacturing companies and wants to deliver results with accountability in an entrepreneurial environment. This is a developmental role ideal for candidates who are on a controller track with the desire to grow professionally and assume increasing responsibilities over time with an expanding company.   •  Reports directly to the Controller


Reporting to the Company’s Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for the accounting function in SAGE system while ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.


            To include but not limited to:

  • Prepares, reviews, analyzes and presents monthly trial balance, detail general ledger, financial statements and other supporting documentation, schedules, and calculations. Manages timely monthly closings and verifies accuracy of accounting transactions and data.  Maintains various internal accounting reports and financial controls.
  • Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
    * Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of foreign subsidiary accounting and reporting by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies.
  • Responsible for fiscal reporting, tracking and analysis.
  • Creates miscellaneous reports and operating forecasts and provides analytical support as needed to management as well as other company functional groups.
  • Verified payroll by initiating computer processing and printing checks.
    * Assists external accountants / auditors / and tax preparers.
  • Assists over time in the evaluation, establishment and implementation of improved internal processes, policies and procedures to minimize cost and complexity.
  • Other duties, including coordination of special projects as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Finance or similar technical field required. CPA preferred.
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience in manufacturing environment with cost accounting and reporting background.
  • Strong computer knowledge, specifically advanced MS Excel skills
  • Previous experience with ERP system, strong preference for familiarity with
  • Previous experience supervising direct reports.
