Description:

 

Our recent expansion has opened up the new position of Controls Engineer (IPE) located in Thomson, GA (outside of Augusta) to proactively support shop-floor continuous improvement activities as well as support industrial engineering equipment / capital projects within the manufacturing sites. The right candidate is a hands-on, high energy individual who must be a self-starter with a desire to deliver results with accountability in a fast-paced environment.

the CE will be a responsible team member working closely with the production and maintenance departments as well as other internal resources and external contractors towards coordinating and driving projects, initiatives and actions forward.

Responsibilities:

To include but not limited to:

 

  • Utilize AutoCAD and/or other similar softwares to design Electrical Schematics.
  • Utilize Allen Bradley / Automation Direct’s software to program PLC’s and HMI’s from scratch.
  • Provide technical support and programming for modifications and upgrades to specialty equipment.
  • Designs new control panels for changes or improvements made to equipment as required.
  • Research and work with suppliers to specify controls components for use in electrical panels
  • Troubleshoot electrical and PLC logic for process and efficiency improvements.
  • Assist with specifying controls hardware for new equipment, equipment changes, poka yokes, and process improvements.
  • Ensure corporate compliance to NEC, OSHA, and ANSI standards for equipment safety.
  • Ensure consistency of processes and practices across the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position and company.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred or Associate’s Degree with relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of experience programming PLC’s and designing electrical cabinets.
  • Allen Bradley, Automation Direct or other Ladder Logic PLC and HMI programming experience.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Eye for detail and accuracy
  • Reliable, with high integrity and strong work ethic
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Data driven approach to problem solving and decision making
  • Excellent communicator who can understand and deliver information in a clear, open, honest and accurate method
  • Dedicated to the value of team success before individual interest.
  • 3+ years of experience programming PLC’s
