Material Handler

Primary Responsibility:

 

The Material Handler is responsible for working safe and for maintaining the required levels of all materials used at all Plant 1 production lines by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in the appropriate locations. The Material Handler is also responsible for handling all finished goods once they leave a production line prior to them shipping. They must be attentive and self-motivated. He/she must also be able to work as a team. He/she must be good at communicating with others. He/she must have good math and writing skills and be organized.

  • Reports directly to Shift Supervisor

Duties:

            To include but not limited to:

 

  • Strap/band all finished good pallets
  • Cut cores using a table saw and per customer requirements
  • Replenish/Maintain/Organize/Clean all areas of the P1 Ink Room
  • Wrapping and labeling a finished pallet with a pallet label, inventory ticket, job number, and ticket number so all pallets are ready for immediate pickup
  • Read and comprehend a standard US English tape measure
  • Read, comprehend, and follow all specifications in the job folder
  • Proficient with math and reading
  • Complete all required paperwork (pallet slips, job folders, any special customer requirements, and/or any other forms as assigned by the shift supervisor)
  • Train other employees if needed
  • Cut plastic from cores using a utility knife and wearing proper PPE
  • Clean print presses if needed
  • Maintain a clean environment in all areas of the facility
  • Perform inspections of finished good product
  • Weigh scrap gaylords at the ends of all lines and at the end of every shift
  • Complete all necessary paperwork as required, giving particular attention to product weights and scrap.
  • Package product according to instructions
  • Use lifting equipment and fork trucks on a regular basis
  • Be professional and be a part of the team
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned by shift supervisor or facility management

Qualifications and Skills:

 High school diploma/GED

  • 2+ years working in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Capable of lifting 50+ pounds unassisted
  • Able to work on foot for long periods of time
  • Climb stairs, crouch, kneel, bend
  • Reliable mode of transportation
  • Good communicator
