Role Description:

The Production Process Technician Assistant is responsible for working safe and for all quality and reporting of the film products being produced per their assigned extrusion line(s). He/she assists the Process Technician with their duties for effective startups, line setups, changeovers, shutdowns and production runs as determined by the production schedule and customer requirements. The Production Process Technician Assistant shall develop a growing capability with advanced skills related to the entire blown film process including troubleshooting issues.

  • Reports directly to Shift Supervisor (dotted line to Process Technician)


Primary Responsibilities (to include but not limited to):

  • Operate extrusion machines and accessory equipment such as Pelletizer/Munchy with proper attention to detail and ability to keep pace with the production process in order to minimize setup time and scrap.
  • Perform continuous product quality inspections per spec sheets both visual as well as through micrometers and record product and process parameters.
  • Analyze production and product quality data and make necessary adjustments to the operation of extrusion related equipment.
  • Move materials and equipment in/out of the line as needed including packaging materials, raw materials and finished product.
  • Package product according to instructions
  • Read, comprehend, and follow all production order specifications and complete all required documentation.
  • Troubleshoot standard problems against a defined process and refer complex problems to the appropriate resources.
  • Maintain a clean equipment and facility environment in all areas, sustain 5S activities and participate in Continuous Improvement activities as needed.
  • Be professional and be a part of the team while training others as needed.
  • Help with breaks and lunches on all lines and fill in for Process Technician during absences.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned by shift supervisor or facility management.


Qualifications and Skills:


  • High school diploma/GED with proficiency in math and reading.
  • 3+ years experience independently running extrusion lines such as plastic extrusion, foam extrusion, injection molding, rotomolding.
  • Technically inclined with interest to learn new skills in manufacturing environment.
  • Equipment maintenance experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills to include familiarization with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Good communicator with ability to articulate problems and solutions verbally.
  • Able to work on foot for long periods of time, lift 50+ pounds unassisted, climb stairs/crouch/kneel/bend.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and process procedures.
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills.
  • Dependability/punctuality/reliable mode of transportation.
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
