Process Technician-Blown Film

 Description:

 Amcor’s blown film division, located in Thomson, GA (outside of Augusta) is seeking a Production Process Technician (PPT) for its day / night shift with experience in running film extrusion lines. The PPT is responsible for working safely and for all quality, setup, production, and maintaining equipment and product being produced for their assigned line(s). He/she must be attentive and self-motivated and be able to work as a team with good communications skills. The equipment and processes used require attention to detail and ability to keep pace with the process in order to minimize setup time and scrap.

  • Reports directly to Shift Supervisor
  • Hours: 8hour shift, Monday-Friday. Weekends if production deems necessary

 

Duties and responsibilities:

            To include but not limited to:

  • Fully responsible running entire blown film extrusion line from machine start up, launching a bubble to getting product into production and maintaining specification and proper product packaging
  • Ensures timely and accurate production machine set-ups and start-ups
  • Operates extrusion lines by maintaining proper speeds, making adjustments, etc., to ensure the right quality product is achieved and productivity targets are met
  • Sets up, maintains and cleans print presses as well as operate other accessory equipment (i.e. hole punch)
  • Perform continuous product inspections both visual as well as through use of micrometers and records product and process parameters
  • Provides troubleshooting, light preventative maintenance, and equipment changes as needed
  • Keeps extrusion lines, equipment, and surrounding areas clean and orderly.
  • Uses lifting equipment and fork trucks on a regular basis
  • Maintains detailed information within the current reporting formats on statistics, processes and procedures and completes all required documentation
  • Will lead and train the operators; shadowing new operators during the shift
  • Be professional and be a part of the team
  • Hands-on management of all aspects of daily operation including safety, set-up, performance and compliance, quality control, output, housekeeping, training & equipment maintenance
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned by shift supervisor or facility management

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 3+ years in blown environment with minimum 1 year experience independently running an entire film line (cast film extrusion may qualify)
  • Must possess excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Must have the ability to find and implement solutions while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated strong leadership abilities and able to effectively deal with diverse group of individuals
  • Strong work ethic, organizational skills and verbal/written communication abilities
  • Capable of lifting 50+ pounds unassisted
  • Able to work on foot for long periods of time, climb stairs, crouch, kneel, bend
  • Reliable mode of transportation
