Quality Engineer-Injection Molding Division

Our recent expansion has opened up the new position of Quality Engineer (QE) located in Thomson, GA (outside of Augusta).  The position is responsible for leading design and execution activities relating to quality and supporting continuous improvement and risk management with regards to our new Injection Molding division.  The right candidate is a hands-on, high energy individual who must be a self-starter with a desire to deliver results with accountability in a fast-paced environment.


The QE will be a responsible team member and project coordinator working closely with the production, engineering, and maintenance departments, as well as customers and external contractors, towards coordinating and driving projects, initiatives and actions forward.

  • Reports to: Plant Manager


To include but not limited to:


  • Establish a comprehensive quality control strategy that includes Amcor, suppliers, and customers
    • Lead the development and on-going maintenance of the Quality Management System for the Injection Molding Division
    • Drive the implementation of ISO 9001:2015 requirements and coordinate with external quality assurance auditors and technicians to ensure compliance
    • Create and maintain required manufacturing process documentation such as process flow charts, work instructions, equipment specifications and related maintenance service requirements, as well as safety procedures
    • Determine quality metrics for manufacturing procedures and create effective reports / tools to monitor product quality and process compliance
    • Build technical expertise on new technologies and incorporate into our overall quality program
    • Develop and implement related quality control training programs.
  • Partner with engineering, sales, and operations to drive product development and customer projects regarding quality requirements
    • Prepare and/or review validation protocols/reports, ensuring compliance and adherence to the design, customer, and internal quality requirements, as applicable
    • Lead training of cross-functional teams involved in validation
    • Work with internal teams to increase customer satisfaction by improving the quality of the products
    • Drive process and product improvement initiatives and analyze product performance to identify trends as necessary
    • Manage product inspection, sampling plans, inspection and test acceptance criteria, and resolve non-conformances
  • Recommend, facilitate, participate in and/or drive continuous improvement initiatives such as product return process, overall process simplification, visual management, problem solving, 5S, etc. towards increasing productivity, improving production quality and decreasing cost.
    • Responsible for quality-compliant management with a focus on product/production quality and quality processes
    • Conduct and participate in deviation investigations to identify root causes and define corrective/ preventative actions
    • Serve as a liaison between customers, sales, and operations to resolve quality issues


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing/industrial engineering or other technically related discipline
  • Minimum of 3+ years related experience leading or employed in a quality function with QMS management / implementation
  • Demonstrated analytical capabilities towards problem analysis and problem resolution skills as well as strong familiarity with quality control tools and processes
  • Willingness to learn, take on responsibilities and challenges by being self-motivated, exhibiting a “can do” / “lead by example” attitude and an ability to work both within a team as well as independently
  • “Change Agent Mindset” with demonstrated management characteristics such as taking action, making decisions, generating buy-in, and overcoming hurdles to move the organization forward on a daily basis
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills with high internal/external customer enthusiasm combined with ability to interact with and provide guidance to colleagues at all levels
  • Direct Continuous Improvement knowledge and experience from training and project participation with a mind-set of challenging the status quo towards re-engineering processes, practices and systems
  • Other key skills: high attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks, results and dead-line orientation, prioritization & goal setting, time management skills
  • Additional preferred experience / certifications:
    • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949
    • Continuous Improvement and/or Project Management certification
    • Six Sigma certification / experience
