Description:

Our recent expansion has opened up the new position of Senior Purchaser (SP) located in Thomson, GA (outside of Augusta). This role assures that overall purchasing and supply chain objectives meet company requirements by proactively executing purchasing strategies and related activities with company’s domestic and international supplier base.

Reporting to the shared services leader, the right candidate is a hands-on, high energy individual who must be a self-starter with a desire to deliver results with accountability in an entrepreneurial environment. This role is a career development position best suited for an individual who has career aspirations to build and manage a team of buyers/purchasers within a growing company.

Responsibilities:

* This role is currently very hands-on in sourcing products for internal manufacturing processes, as well as buying commodity products for re-sale (a fast-paced business).

* Responsible for end to end sourcing of products and services essential to the company’s operation, which includes the following: interacting with various plant planners and the sales team; generating and evaluating RFQs; negotiating best pricing/terms/delivery conditions; managing purchase order creation/expediting/ERP receipt, and maintaining accurate vendor records.

* Proactively modifies / optimizes current procurement processes and implements best practices as part of continuous improvement objectives, manages / upgrades existing supplier network, and reacts to matters that require timely decision.

* Manages and solves complex performance matters of suppliers through corrective action and coordinates / conducts supplier audits as needed.

* Tracks key market cost indices and keeps up to date with and provides management update reports of market trends, material indices and supplier conditions to proactively identify supply base issues to minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, exploit emerging opportunities that benefit Amcor and support overall decision-making.

* Assists and supports sales team with new projects.

* Adheres to company policies, procedures, terms and conditions and legal matters that affect purchasing policies. Utilizes company systems to fullest extent.

* Performs other duties as assigned in support of overall company objectives.

Qualifications and Experience:

* BA/BS degree or equivalent

* Minimum five years of progressive purchasing and vendor management experience within manufacturing environment with demonstrated track record sourcing, evaluating, and selecting suppliers, demonstrated skill in successful vendor negotiations and ongoing vendor management.

* Solid experience working with price indices in support of decision making.

* Strong analytical capabilities, critical thinking and math skills to support decision making by analyzing multiple variables and defining practical solutions.

* Knowledge of Continuous Improvement practices such as LEAN Manufacturing a plus.

* Relevant professional certifications and experience in Automotive Tier I/II or similar are a plus

* Growth mindset with ability to manage priorities and conflicting timelines, work in a fast paced / hands-on environment, handle high pressure situations by bringing a positive approach to problem solving.

* Experience with ERP or MRP systems as well as excellent computer proficiency in MS Office particularly Excel required.

* Excellent communication and organizational skills with ability to work with people at all levels from production associates to executives.

* Other key skills: results and dead-line orientation, prioritization & goal setting, strong attention to detail and thoroughness, excellent time management skills.
