Our recent expansion has opened up the new position of Strategic Commodity Manager located in Thomson, GA (outside of Augusta). This pivotal role coordinates all activities related to procurement of polymer resins in a very dynamic, real-time environment for internal and customer consumption. Reporting to the President, the right candidate is a hands-on, high energy, highly organized individual who must be a self-starter with a desire to deliver results with accountability in an entrepreneurial environment. * Manages real-time, highly dynamic supplier interactions towards locking in polymer purchases on a daily basis.

* Tracks global market indices and keeps up to date with customer prices, market trends, material indices and supplier conditions to proactively identify supply base opportunities to maximize profits, protect continuity of supply, and exploit arbitrage situations.

* Responsible for sourcing of polymer resins in support of company’s strategy and goals by:

– developing strong relationships and being the primary liaison with existing suppliers,

– identifying and qualifying new suppliers worldwide,

– managing the entire procurement process from monitoring daily inventory levels and demand, to quotations and negotiations for best pricing/terms/delivery, as well as purchase order creation and delivery tracking.

– interacting with the sales team to maximize sales opportunities,

– interacting with logistics team and plant managers as needed,

– conducting supplier performance evaluations and corrective action resolutions as needed,

– maintaining accurate vendor records.

* Participates in continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.

* Adheres to company policies, procedures, terms and conditions and legal matters that affect purchasing policies.

* Performs other duties as needed.


Qualifications and Experience:

* MUST HAVE minimum three years of progressive commodity purchasing and/or trading experience. Polymer resin and/or sales experience a plus

* Has a growth mindset with ability to manage priorities and conflicting timelines.

* Able to work in a fast paced / hands-on environment, being proactive and capable to multi-task in high pressure situations.

* Brings a positive approach to problem solving. Enjoys contributing to the decision-making process.

* BA/BS degree or equivalent, MBA a plus.

* Has a good understanding of truck/rail/ship logistics.

* Demonstrated track record managing the entire sourcing process in highly dynamic commodity environments including ongoing vendor management and identification and development of new suppliers / supplier network.

* Demonstrated aptitude in successful vendor negotiations.

* Excellent analytical capabilities and math skills towards effective multiple variable analysis and definition of practical solutions in support of decision making.

* Excellent computer proficiency in MS Office particularly Excel required.

* Able to travel 5-10% of time.

* Other key skills: results and dead-line orientation, prioritization & goal setting, strong attention to detail and thoroughness, excellent time management skills.
